Criticisms Are Challenges

Criticism is an inseparable part of our daily lives. I mean, who has been able to avoid criticism in almost everything they do! Critics are to be found almost everywhere, and in my opinion, they are the most important people in our lives! After all, who will let us know about our flaws better than them? Yes, we all are flawsome in one sense or the other. No one’s born perfect, and no one can achieve perfection. And why should we strive for perfection? There is beauty in our imperfections too!

But, sometimes in the process of heading towards our goal, we make mistakes and get criticized for it. This generally lowers our confidence level and slows down our pace because we start doubting our abilities. But, criticisms are challenges! They are not meant to slow you down; they are supposed to fasten your pace so that you prove it to yourself (the world doesn’t matter my dear) that you are worth more than the criticism.

Imagine a life where no one criticizes you and people build bridges of your praises. Will you ever feel that you need to do better? You will feel like a ‘perfect’ person who is good at everything and doesn’t require any improvements. And the result? You will stay at that very level throughout your life and at some point, you will realize you could have done better.

Criticism is important to keep you motivated to do better. It is a type of negative motivation (I have talked about negative motivation in my previous articles) that keeps you going because of the fear of failure. A person who treats criticisms as challenges always works hard to be a better version of him.

And trust me, this should not be done to shut the critics, instead, you should be thankful to them to have notified you about your shortcomings, so that you could work on them and do better in life. We should be thankful to them! Accepting challenges helps you be a better version of you, overcoming them makes you feel accomplished and you will see your strengths and confidence level elevating. This will provide you with personal satisfaction, right? The role of a critic is like a catalyst (a chemistry term), it does not take part in the reaction, it just fastens the rate of the reaction! The thing is, it fastens the rate of both forward and backward reaction. So, the mindset that you create, decides whether you will move forward or backward due to this catalyst called ‘critic’.

So, what I’m trying to convey is, don’t ever let the world affect you in a negative manner, it’s your life, you decide what is success for you, you decide what is satisfaction for you because, in the end, it’s you who should be happy! Happiness is the ultimate goal of life, rest all is just sprinkles on sundae!

So, remember, Criticisms are not hindrances, they are challenges!

Imperfectly perfect yet we strive for perfection. Understanding criticism and applying it positively is how we improve, we do not become perfect, we improve. A better version of ourselves. Read the original article and give your thoughts there.

  2. Wow. So true. Criticism is the painful dose of reality we all need to hear but seldom welcome it. No amount of sugar coating helps with receiving it so don’t bother adding it, right? Well, maybe a little…at least until they understand you’re trying to help…and vice versa. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful post!

  3. A good perspective, we should understand that criticism should be constructive it’s just hard at times to remember this, thanks for reminding me of this
